Excellent case study with many valuable tips for practitioners who need to build analytic applications that require complex calculations for distribution to a large number of users with Reporting Services.
Excellent read! Something of this sort should have come a long ago, thanks for this. Just one doubt. In page 29, images are being used to display the KPI status. In my humble opinion, using colors (in the BackgroundColor property) would be a better idea, especially in this case as it has to repeat for each row. Using images would make export to excel a bit longer and also the size would be bigger when compared to using colors.

Steve and Jason, thank you for you nice words. This is what keeps us motivated into adding new and exciting content.
Jason, I see your point and it is a valid option to support a lighter export to Excel, when it is required.
Fantastic overview of applying a truly scalable, high performing SSAS dynamic security solution. I applied a similar design in 2007 and this would have been a wonderful technical reference. I also genuinely appreciated the OLAP designs with supplemental MDX. Excellent material!
